Acrylic painting on 20'' x 20'' canvas - "Deep Ocean"

Deep Ocean is my attempt to capture the feeling of being submerged in something vast, powerful, and quietly mysterious. I used a range of blue tones—from deep, inky hues at the top to lighter, almost icy blues and whites near the bottom—to create a sense of movement and light filtering through water.

To build the texture and energy in the piece, I used not only brushes and palette knives but also various sponges. Each tool gave me a different way to mimic the shifting, layered quality of the sea. The sponges in particular helped me achieve some of the softer, foamy textures that remind me of ocean spray or distant underwater formations.

This isn’t a literal depiction of the ocean, but more of a feeling—of being small, calm, and introspective within something infinitely larger. It’s a personal piece for me, and I hope it invites others to pause and feel a sense of depth and quiet wonder too.
